We went to look for something to eat in the neighborhood, Kensington. It is a really great neighborhood, with the HUGE 3 story Whole Foods and a lot of great boutiques. Of course there is also an American Apparel and an Urban Outfitters, which Anthony and I thought was kind of funny. We went to an Indian restaurant called Zaika for dinner. London is famous for its great Indian food so we thought we would check it out. The interior was very pretty, with a lot of reds and blacks. There was also a nice lounge/bar area. They brought out a special appetizer for us, but I got a special vegetarian one. We ordered chocolate somosas with bananas for dessert and they brought out an Indian toffee ice cream also that was really good.

London: Day 1 (December 24)
We got into London on Christmas Eve around 5:15. Our flight was delayed for almost two hours because of fog in London. There are two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in the flat, with a super small kitchen. The space is so efficient that it even holds a compact washer and dryer. The internet wasn't working when we got in, but we were hoping it would fixed as soon as possible. Obviously that never happened.

Finally
So, we're here! Unfortunately the internet is down in our flat so I am updating from an internet cafe. Christmas was rainy but very pretty. It's very green here. We walked through Notting Hill and the Kensington Gardens. Not many restaurants were open so we settled on Chinese for dinner. That was a first!
I have tons of pictures so hopefully the internet will be working later tonight. We're off to see Wicked so I got to run. More later.

The Basics
Hi everyone!
My family and I are off to Europe today for Christmas and New Years. Sadly our excursion ends on January 3, 2008. However, if you know my Dad, our schedule is packed. Our itinerary has been set since before Thanksgiving. We have never had a big family trip and my Dad decided to make it happen. This has been a stressful and rough year for all of us and we figured there was no time like the present. Anthony, my Mom, and I have never been to London or Paris and my Dad was there a long time ago. This is going to be such a great experience and I want to share it with my family and friends. I decided to make a blog so that I can upload pictures and share stories. I am hoping that I will be able to keep it up.
I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I will be thinking about you all!
Love,
Mara
